What is a mezzanine floor

This is a free-standing structure that is made from steel. The purpose of a mezzanine is to act as an intermediate floor between the base and the ceiling of a building. In particular, this usually covers one specific area of a building or warehouse rather than the entire floor space. Therefore, this is a floor that doubles the floor space but is removable.

• Joists: This is a horizontal structure used in framing to span an open space, usually used between beams to transfer loads to vertical members. This fits between each of the primary beams and acts as a fixing for the decking
• Decking: These are the boards that go onto a mezzanine and serve as a floor. We use Sutterply decking as it consists of layers of 100% pine which forms an economical wise building board.
